This is how the RD500YPVS would look if it were still made today
Following on from WW's what did you listen to; what are you listening to now and what new bands / genre are you getting in to. I went for years without listening to any new music and got well and truly stuck in yesteryear. I have gotten into a few new (well, for me anyway) bands of late, most noticeably:
Black Stone Cherry
DragonForce

Anyone for anything interesting? I have $22 sitting on mp3search burning a hole in my pocket!!

Did you listen to their first two albums Sav? Very different from the last two.

The Keisers are ace although I have not heard their latest Album. I also like "The Script" but i am mainly a "Evanescence" or "Linkin Park" type of guy. I like a good stroung rock song. Hybrid Theary by Linking park was probably one of the best Albums i have listened to.

Oh, and I also like Def Leppard (one for the older guys)

Most recent purchases have been Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip(*), So So Modern and Hadouken.

On my current wish list are The Lovely Eggs and Fight Like Apes.

Currently on my stereo - am working through a pile (c50) 7" I acquired off my brother who's clearing his house in preparation of emigrating to Ireland in the new year.

* Sav - did you ever get this CD - what do you think?

I acquired it indeed Spud - definitely different to most of the stuff I listen to, but really enjoyed it. Remember the first play of Thou Shalt Always Kill on radio 1, just stuck me as something completely new, to me anyway. And the rest of that album I really enjoyed too, Brilliant lyrics - thats what makes it for me I think. Just really clever.

Just getting back into Voodoo Glow Skulls again, having seen them live last week (incidentally, the gig was the worst publicised gig I have ever seen, even the staff at the venue didn't know it was on 5 minutes before doors were due to open. Shocking).

Been listening to Cherry Poppin Daddies a bit, one of the wifes faves, as they are playing at Rio's on friday.

I don't really listen to 'new' music as such, as I don't listen to the radio, I just go on recommendations (Pidge on Waccoe is a good for linking to decent bands):

Every now and then
I turn it on again
But it's plain to see that
The radio still sucks!

That's exactly how I felt about it - I wouldn't normally (ever) listen to anything that sounded like that... but the lyrics draw you in and then the songwriting genious shines (like how angels builds and builds and builds in urgency until it's almost unbearabul).

Headingly

Really? How did I not know this? Do you think there are tickets?

Tickets are still listed at Crash records, so probably.

Rio's advertising is terrible.

Well that's me, you and Rich for Manchester in April then! - could be a rebel meet-up the way things are going. Been playing Black Ice a few times now on my MP3 and really enjoying it.

Aaahhh, Def Leppard.....reminds me of the days I had a Joe Elliot haircut.

One of the best bands I have seen live.

My fave current band is Angels and Airwaves.

I'm lucky in that my neighbour would get his guitar out and play it back to me thru the wall - we used to play Name That Tune quite regularly!
