We in this country, are said to have freedom of speech, but do we really. It is not illegal to be racist, but it is to incite racist hatred. So you can say I hate sheepshaggers (I've used this term as not to offend anyone) but you cannot say lets go attack the sheepshaggers. Thats understandable. Surely a racist is allowed freedom of speech and as long as he doesn't incite anyone to attack anyone else he is within the law. I am not a racist by the way.... I just hate everyone, whatever their colour or nationality.......... hang on, that would mean I am a racist in the eyes of some. I just know, in this weird and wonderfull country, that someone will use the human rights laws to state that they are allowed to hate someone. Whats everyones elses view. |

You seem to have missed one point here though. To be officially recognised as being racist (or just as an "ist") you have to meet certain criteria yourself as follows: 1 - You must be white 2 - You must be of the Christian faith 3 - You must be straight 4 - You must be able bodied If you meet the above criteria you have to be very careful when expressing any opinion about almost any subject especially when it comes to race, religion or sexuality. You see, in this modern era our vocal liberals have manoeuvred this particular race (white, Christian able bodied heterosexual) in to this repressed area by scaring them into believing that they should be apologetic for everything they have ever accomplished and worrying that they might offend someone of some other "minority" by expressing any view or opinion. Oh, and every other race / religion / sexuality has learnt that if they cant do or achieve something because they arent good enough they can safely play the race / religious / sexuality card and know that they will get what they want. BTW - I know this is tarring everyone with the same brush (no matter what race, religion or sexuality) before anyone starts accusing me of something I may or may not believe!! There are far too many people from the so called "minority races" that just have a massive chip on their shoulders and get far too hung up with the idea that every white person who dares to do or say anything that does not agree with them, must be a racist. An exampl is that if two people get into a fight in Leeds city centre abd one happens to a white man and the other happens to be a Asian man, then the incident must be racially motivated. No one seems to accept the fact that it could just be a case of two people who dont get on and that their races have nothing to do with it. When it comes to freedom of speech on this subject, then there is none. In this country, we are no longer aloud to do or say anything that may be seen to "Upset" the muslim community, so therefore there is no freedom of speech. It is no good saying that we have freedom of speech up to a certain point. You either have freedom of speach or you dont. If that freedom is policed in any way, then it is not real freedom. It is just not as tightly controlled as in other countries, but lets not kid ourselves that we have true "freedom" of speech, because we dont. |
