It's no secret that I love murder and detective novels but I'm only reading my first Ian Rankin novel at the moment. It's taking me ages (which is unusual for me) as I'm usually too tired to read more than 2 or 3 pages before I fall asleep. It's the last one in the Rebus series, so my question is should I go back and start at the beginnning?

Yes, yes, yes and yes again.

the last one is an excellent book but you really need the whole series as there's so much back story you'll miss out on.

I've actually got them stood at the side of me as i seem to have missed a couple out so i'm going to get them and then start again from the beginning.

You'll enjoy the book as a stand alone, but you'll like it much more if you go back and read them. Yours to borrow if you want (once i've read them again of course!) unless you're like me and you need to own them...

Cheers Matt. I think I'll give them a go then. Thanks for the offer, but Yes, I do like to own them!
