its very sad indeed JR....if they are relegated two divisions they'll never get back....and just as annoyingly Altrincham survive once more on the back of some other team's ill fortune. spent many happy afternoons/evenings at the Shay watching football/speedway and stock car racing...always had a soft spot for the shaymen!! |

Awful news to see this happen to anyone. As a side note, tadcaster albion are struggling financially after there pitch was flooded last year. They are playing York in a pre-season friendly and the Jorvik Reds (yorks ultras group) have decided to walk to the game (about 15 miles approx, am sure one of the older yorkies can be more specific!) in order to raise money for tadcaster albion. Couple of my mates are doing it, and they're looking to raise 500 quid. If anyone fancies throwing in a couple of quid to help a lower league team then message me, i'll pass the money on via paypal or can collect in Billys! |

This is terrible news, not only for the football club, but if town go under then it will seriously affect Halifax RLFC too as they rely on each other with the groundshare. HRLFC put an application for a super league franchise forward this year (depending on promotion obviously), one of the criteria for this is that the shay is "finished off" - i'm sure most of you know that the main stand has been half built for almost 10 years! Anyway, without professional football at the shay as well as rugby league it's very doubtful that calderdale council will proceed with their current plans to finish off the stadium. So....................a very sad day for Halifax Town but an equally sad day for Halifax RLFC as this could mean the end of their quest to return to the top flight of professional RL. |
