It's that time of year again rebs.......Leeds have sent me the renewal forms for sponsorship, same price £995.00 plust VAT. I know that the people who have had tickets for the various events have enjoyed them, but I wondered if we were going to go through it all again this year. From a personal point of view, i know that neither me nor Cuppy want to go through what we did last year, begging bowls out for the last few hundred quid and all that. However its a rebs decision not mine and Caz's so comments please. Oh and the application has to be in AND THE MONEY by the 30th June, so time is not on our side either. |

i'd rather wait and get the general consensus before people start asking to be put down for shares......neither me nor Cuppy really want to do this again, you can't believe how much hassle it is, pm-ing people asking for their money etc..... So, if we're going to do it again, is anyone else willing to take it on? |

I'd be willing to contribute but we need to take this seriously as Dee and Cupster had a trial of a thousand cuts this season. I'd propose a single thread up top for this one - anyone who says they are willing to contribute MUST back up with the cash they've offered. We can't expect certain members of this board (not me by the way!) to continually reach into their pockets to subsidise those that don't stump up the cash (yes, I know 90% of people did send money and that's great support). I think the majority of people want to sponsor again but I also suspect that no one will volunteer unless we can get some organisation and accountability going as a board and not just relying on others. Thoughts? |

Rather than who wants shares, initially it looks like we need someone to organise it. Dee and Caz had there work cut out last time. Heres my Cop out, im away for a fortnight beggining of June and when i get back new job starts so will be inundated. Honestly i would have offered to do this, if it does take place i will gladly contribute as always. If i knew ALL the money would be raised with others contributing, i would consider paying the full amount myself initially, just to ease the problem, however there are no guarentees unfortunately. |

I will be in for a share or 2. As one of the Rebels that visits ER the least I am not sure I would be the best person to organise this. Plus my fees of £175 + VAT per hour would probably be more than the sponsorship :lolanimate: |

You're absolutely spot on Shorts.......it was a nightmare, people promising money then bottling out at the last minute....pledging three shares then saying they were hard up and could only afford one, when we'd factored them in, in Cupster's spread sheet...... Year before last i ended up putting up £450 of my own money, when i was already overdrawn myself...until everyone finally paid up, and last year we went over the date and it was only that Stuart was good enough to wait because of all the probs at the club, knowing that he could trust us to get the money to him before the start of the season. Cupster declared uncategorically that i could count her out this year, and she wasn't being mean, she was being sensible.....i was asking her for updates every couple of days....there were people paying say two shares into paypal and not taking fees into account so we were always chasing up....... I'm open to suggestions.......err of the sponsorship variety (all others to pm please :lolanimate: ) |

Why doesnt one of the Admins put a vote thread at the top of the page asking "Would You Be Interested In Sponsoring A Player?". You could make it a multiple vote as follows: YES NO £10 £20 £30 £40 £50 £75 £100 That way we would get numbers interested and a good idea of how much money would be raised. I would vote YES and £50 again. |

I dont have any problem helping out, but am having a bit of a flakey time at the moment, good days bad days and last time we ended up in a mad rush trying to get the actual money people had pledged in time for the deadline. It should really be as simple as people stating if they are in and how much and we can see if we are gonna be anywhere near. So as WP said will put a thread at the top for people to just say they are in and for how much. |

Paypal is a bad idea. We are doing the sponsorship of a player to give the club some extra funds and feel closer, so why on earth should paypal get paid for the privilege? Whoever organises the sponsorship ought to be someone that is trusted (sorry Dee, but you are a trusted member - oo-er) so we don't end up out of pocket because paypal cost money. Also to save any problems (easier said than done) we should have a dealine and stick to it. If money is not in by the deadline we don't do it. Maybe to motivate people we could have a two stage deadline whereby those that have their hearts set on it can then up their share by adding in more if we're anywhere close? All these are just my thoughts, so feel free to shoot them down. |

I would really like to help out in any form at all. But not sure if being down in the smoke is going to be much use. How much was it again per share ? As I would like to join in again this year. |

Well cash at the games or cheque is the best option but for some the ease of Paypal often tends to sway them into them coming in on it. I agree about Paypal, if you add up all the fee payments it adds up to a fair chunk, but I think its down to the individual. If you want the ease of paying via paypal then you need to cover your own fees really, otherwise you have the choice of cash or cheque and the usual malteaser tax |

Cuppy is right YB, i use paypal over anything else because of ease of use...and i really don't want to be responsible for cash payments. How about i open a bank account, like we intended to do before? People could then transfer money from their account if they wanted? Or even pay into it from their own bank? As its short notice i doubt there'll be time to make it a Rebs business a/c and would be in my name, but i think you guys trust me enough and Cuppy would also have access to the account to check on payments etc? Maybe we could have a vote on that as well? As far as deadlines go, i think 31st May for phase one, to see how its going. Then 21st June for the final deadline. Its summer solstice so its a memorable date, and gives me a week to get the payment to Leeds. Comments please before i ask for admin to put this at the top |

I am willing to help out, but I do feel the people who did the hard work last year need rewarding, as do the people who organise this year. I propose the people who help out are given 5 extra voting slips for the draw. It's just a small token, but it helps to reward the member for their hard work. I would like to propose we back date this to last year as well, because I know the hard work Cuppy and Dee did. On the Paypal thing. Can we not say that people who want to pay by Paypal must pay the fees and we publish them. ie One share is £10.50. They don't get their share unless we receive the fee. |

I haven`t a clue about this paypal thing. I was one of them who didn`t paid up before the end of August. To transfer the money from my bank is quite expencive. Hopefully we`ll reach the final then so i can pay in cash in time this year. |

The easiest, safest and cheapest way to pay is to do a credit transfer from your bank account. Last year I paid my money straight into Dee's bank. It looked good on my bank statement too - "Money for Leeds United Sponsorship" said the transaction. |

right well, if Cuppy is happy to keep a running tally, i'm happy to pass on my bank account details.....that way the running total is always on the board so Option 1. Paypal, as Col says though, you have to pay the fees which we'll post Option 2. Bank transfer into my account Option 3. Cheque sent to me which i will pay into the same account Option 4. Cash, either by special delivery or by hand If everyone is agreed on that, and Cuppy is still happy to help out, then i'm up for it again.... |

Okay count me in, but don't you moan at me when you get the sigh smillie a lot LOL on a trust thing.....it came up in a jokey way last night with one member, who commented they had never met me (let me add this was a teasing comment) but its also a fair comment. None of you have met me and you need to have people who you fully trust when dealing with access to money (though it wont be me receiving any of these payments, they will all be going to Dee). But if anyone would rather it was someone else helping Dee who you have met and trust then I understand that and won't be offended (weeeeeeell over sensitive chip permitting lol). Seriously if anyone would rather someone else was helping then you can voice it here, PM me or PM Dee if you wish to remain anonymous from the board and me. Dee will fully respect you anonymity. |
