Anyone watch Jamie Olivers programme last night. I'm not the biggest fan of the lispy one, but enjoyed his different views on our diets and the amount of fat/sugar/etc we are consuming, however it has left me with a dilemma on what to have for my dinner. |

I have come to the conclusion that you must not read the ingrediants list on any packaged food or Tinned food, otherwise it will put you off it. Safe option is to eat as much fresh produce as possible and cook it to your requirements. |

Am beginning to think its a waste of time reading all the packets. I've been alcohol free for 14 days, have cut out all snacks, lots of fresh food, loads and loads of green veg (which i love anyway, luckily), no chocolate, no pastry, gallons of water......AND i've been taking milk thistle which is supposed to help detox your liver. Add to that, that i've been checking packets for fat, calorie and sugar content. Two whole bloody weeks, and how much weight have i lost? 2 and a quarter pounds!!! Have just under a stone and a half to lose according to the doc, so looks like its gonna be a long year!! |

Thats good Mammy!!! Well done
:) I'm a site called Nutracheck. Its really good, you put in what you eat and it calculates how many calories and fat youve consumed. It also gives you a limit to aim for. You can put in the exercise you do, and goals to achieve. Its brilliant, and makes you watch what you eat :) |

Dee's a liar....

Can only shift the extra stuff if you do it, your body stays the same unless you do more exercise. I know it's stating the obvious but it's the same for me at the moment. Cut down on everything, i now need to do more exercise or i won't shift the extra in time for the wedding. (I bet Kbees is hating being banned cos he can't have a go at me for being "fat") |

yeah i know that Matt.....i have well dodgy knees so can't do the aerobic stuff, can't swim so that's out..........and don't like water so the thought of aquarobics freaks me out, but i do walk everywhere, and i'm trying to take the longer routes to wherever i'm going and also trying to get out most days and do some pleasure walking too. I guess i'm mainly frustrated cos i was forever being told that if i didn't drink so much alcohol the weight would fall off, and it clearly isn't doing!!! ps Lozzles? looked up that word "gym" in me dictionary.......not impressed :lolanimate: |

it will, but your body needs to get used to not having it, i think (maybe wrong) that it takes a while to get out of your system then once it has your body can get back to getting rid of other stuff, body takes a lot of energy processing the alcohol so can't do the other stuff, once it stops it'll move on to other stuff. Probs find it falls off after about a month.... |

This is how the RD500YPVS would look if it were still made today
|
I got to the point a few years back with the weight issue. Since I can remember I have been able to eat anything and not put on a pound. But about 3 years ago I started to develop a belly. I knew that I had to do something about it and the options were to reduce my calorie intake to less than 2500 a day or to make sure I burn more calories than I consume. Easy answer then I though, I'll start exercising. The only problem with that is I find going to the gym beyond boredom and if exercise isnt competitive then its pointless. So I took up squash and joined a league. I play about 3 times a week (40 minutes a time) and the belly has gone. I still eat what I like when I like and drink far too much alcohol. The moral of the story is dieting and watching what you eat doesnt really work on its own because if your not burning off calories then they are sitting on ones thighs (so to speak). Cor, hark at me!! |

i must admit i too have started to make sure i get a bit more exercise these days. i realise you have to start these things little by little and slowly build it up so i've started a few little changes........ i no longer use the drive through at maccie d's, i park up now and walk to the counter. i've started parking the car 10 yards further away from the house. buying stubby bottles instead of large cans......need to walk to fridge more often. |

I've actually dropped a dress size while pregnant!!. I haven't cooked with salt since I fell pregnant with Cerys and use lurpak low salt/low fat butter as my SiL (who is a dietician at Jimmy's) says that margarine is very bad for you. |
