Morning cuppy et al, feeling a bit worse for wear today, and i woke up thinking it was 1-1, i shall have to go watch the championship to remind myself of the marvellous victory! Good day of doing nothing but watching footy today, oh yes. Bring on Forest.

Likewise.

Struggled to sleep last night - replaying the match in my head and trying to picture end of season points table.

Something that interests me about yestrerday, was the flurry of goals at the end. Just the way things happened or were Wise and Poyet right when they first arrived.
We weren`t fit
Are we now seeing the benefit of a proper testing pre-season fitness regime.
I`d appreciate answers particularily from those of you who attended yeasterday

Very good point Mike. For seasons now I dont think we have come back from a Pre season looking as fit as other teams. Something as vital as that and I've never understand why we've always, in my opinion, fallen below par on this. But the players do look fit, I know they were put under a tough pre season training programme and I do believe we are seeing the benefits of that. Okay I know tactically we are making changes towards the end to push for the wins which is great to see, but having the players sharp on fitness I think is paying dividends in the final 20 minutes. I just wonder why its taken all this time to realise the importance of this.

I`m old enough to remember the Revie era and we certainly won many games in that last 20 minutes through superior fitness
A good number of players who joined us in that period owned up to physically being sick in training, it was so tough. But the benefits were there for all to see in the fitness level in the season
Just and old farts thoughts and the reason for my original question

I think a lot of it, as well as the fitness side, is keeping focus until the final whistle too. There have been times the last couple of seasons when i've thought that the players couldn't wait for the final whistle to go just to get back to the dressing room, and sit out their misery in there for half an hour instead of backs to the wall and getting stuck in there ......how many games did we lose last season in the late stages?
I think fitness, concentration and a will to win will keep us in the fight this season, rather than good football and talented players (sorry lads, no dissrespect!)
Beckford, i think has been a good player for us to sponsor, first thing he did when he scored was stuck four fingers of one hand and one of the other up.....and he was the one who shouted "12 more points" at the end of the Tranmere game....he's got the passion on and off the field for me, and that counts for a lot more than your poncy premiership prima donna rolling about diamond stud wearing so called "footballers"

(err not that i don't us to be back in the premiership or owt like :lolanimate: )

Me and HW were chatting pre match about this very subject. He'd heard a quote from Wise saying that the least fit person at Swindon was fitter than the best Leeds performer when he arrived.

Having seen them pre season a couple of times and heard his comments that the trip to Germany/Czech Republic wasn't a jolly but an intensive training camp it all suggests excellent preparation.

Another point yesterday was the bench. We were able to bring on a quality (for this league anyway) of player that most of our rivals could only dream of. With the demands facing us moving forward I think the depth of squad available is just as important as the 1st XI you can field.
