Taken from the BBC's website:

The Football League board is to consider a proposal to scrap draws and decide matches by penalty shoot-outs, BBC Five Live understands.
The idea will be discussed by Football League chairmen and chief executives at a board meeting on Thursday.

No timescale has been given for implementing the change if the chairmen go ahead with the proposal.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: "I saw this in my first year managing in Japan - it did not have spectacular results."

He added: "In extra-time they played a sudden death goal and if no-one scored they had penalties.

"The draw is part of the culture of the game and I would not like that to disappear."

The idea was originally put forward in the recent Football League Fans Survey.

There are currently two proposals to be considered - a traditional penalty shoot-out or where a player would have eight seconds to try and score after receiving the ball on the half-way line.

Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond told the Daily Echo newspaper said: "Why can't we just have a draw?"

"I don't agree with it because I think it's too much of a radical change.

"I'm very open-minded and I think certain laws of the game need to move with the times but that would be too much of a drastic measure."

Surely not!

An extra point for scoring 2 goals would mean teams would not defend a 1 - 0 win, but go for a 2 - 0 win. And a losing team could get a point if they lost 3 - 2.

Penalty shoot outs would mean teams who are not very good would shut up shop and take a chance of beating a better team by taking their chance at a shoot out.

Another barely credible lame-brained idea from the dolts who run our game.
I seem to remember that some of thjem wanted top do away with throw-ins and replace them with free kicks.
Our game has evolved over centuries to a point of near perfection.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Nonsense, we need change now. I am all for handicapping in the knockout contests.

Then say Leeds drew Arsenal in the Cup then we should be 4-0 in front when the game starts.

Also if the Queen had bollocks we'd have a King.

What on earth for.
I'd rather they concentrated on ironing out cheating and bad sportsmanship.

Well I actually felt it might be a reasonable idea that would be worth a try. We have winning draws in cricket, so why not in footy. Given Casper's record with penalties, we would probably do ok out of it, and let's face it, we could potentially have had an extra five points at the moment. It's not about denying a team a point for the draw - they'll still keep that, it would mean that the team that is better at dealing with penalties would benefit.

Don't tell me English players don't need practice with penalties!

Another thing that was trialled in what is now the Nationwide Conference was having home wins getting two points and away wins getting three. This was before three points for a win was the norm.

The idea was to encourage away sides to attack more. As I remember - it worked.

I think they should scrap drawers. I never wear any and love to feel the breeze flapping through my knackers.

If you're being thrashed at half time, simply swap your 3 shittest players for their 3 best.

Always worked at school, evened things up a treat.

They tried the 8 seconds to score type idea in MLS when it first started up. They have since rejected it and have draws. It says something if MLS has rejected the idea!
